Antwerp Management School
Antwerp Management School has a rich tradition of over 50 years.
Antwerp Management School is founded as IPO (Instituut voor Postuniversitair Onderwijs) in 1959. At that time it had 1 flagship program: PPB (Postuniversitair Programma in Bedrijfsbeheer), an EMBA (Executive Master of Business Administration) “avant la lettre”.
It had a major impact on the development of Antwerp, Flanders, Belgium and beyond, and in many leading companies and organizations, we find PPB/EMBA alumni back. Some examples include BARCO, Bekaert, Agfa, Alcatel-Lucent, BASF, Electrabel, KBC, Janssen Pharmaceutica, Umicore, SD Worx.
By the mid-70s IPO had expanded its portfolio of programs far beyond its flagship PPB/EMBA and had achieved a leading position in management education in Flanders.
In the year 2000, UAMS was created (Universiteit Antwerpen Management School )integrating IPO, IMB (Instituut voor Management en Bestuur), a University of Antwerp “Master in Personeelswetenschappen” and the MBA programs of former UFSIA and RUCA.
In 2008 UAMS was formally recognized by the Flemish Government as autonomous academic institution with the University of Antwerp as a parent institution.
During the years 2009-2010 reflection took place on reinventing the management school. This resulted in the change of the brand name: from UAMS to Antwerp Management School.
