Robert Van Straelen is holder of a Ph.D in Economics from KU Leuven. He started his career as a member of the Economic Programming Agency in Brussels. He was full professor in the Faculty of Applied Economics at Antwerp University, and currently emeritus professor. He taught courses in regional economics, econometrics, financial models, corporate business and management systems (strategic decisions by means of computer simulation), real estate investment and valuation as well as statistics in the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences. He founded in 1995 a Real Estate Master Programme for professionals, currently still running in Antwerp Management School. He is an active participator in many congress meetings and missions abroad. His special interest is in the field of real estate investment, development and the construction industry. He is member of several scientific associations and business organisations, including the Advisory Board of the Construction Industry (Brussels), the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and member of the supervisory board of an international real estate investment company.
