As soon as I got my Ph.D, I left the academic world and started a career in the HR-Department of the nr1 Belgian Bank. After 10 years of HR Management in different jobs (head of trainees, head of Recruitment) I took up line responsibility in banking – As head of a retail banking activity first, as head of a region afterwards, running groups of over 200 staff, and managing an own balance sheet and P&L account.

Another 10 years later I moved back to HR, in charge of activities such as Payroll, Staff costs, and social relations; I also was for 3 years head of HR for all support functions, heading an HR team of over 25 staffmembers, and servicing over 10.000 employees and managers spread globally. Today, I am an HR-consultant for several organizations.

My favorite HR topics include: HRM as a source of competitive advantage, the management of social relations, staff costs, employee engagement and generation Y, motivation and performance management, management of absenteeism, managing staff costs.
