Think Smart, Be Critical, Behave Wisely

Designed for professionals whose healthy ambition it is to better understand the global business setting and impact the customer value creation process, and who believe that nurturing their talents can make a difference...

The Antwerp Management School EMBA program reflects the current needs of the business community. Our MBA is designed to support professionals and organizations by preparing them for an unpredictable future, especially in times of turbulent change and deep-rooted crisis. The goal is to secure the required knowledge and expertise, to puzzle out recovery, and tap into the hidden innovative power and unlocked potential of the firm.

We have designed our MBA program guided by the principle of belief in adaptability, change and growth.

The program stretches you on three distinct development and learning levels:

  • individual
  • group and team
  • organization

Our unique approach also impacts a blend of development areas:

  • unleash personal skills
  • broaden and deepen conceptual knowledge
  • explore and build awareness

Content

The traditional and vested MBA content is still highly valued and rooted in the program: we deepen and broaden your conceptual knowledge of the business, stretching you beyond your given specialist expertise into the realm of strategic thinking and acting.
Consequently, basic principles such as management accounting and control, financial management, business economics, and analytical thinking, still constitute an essential part of the course.

In a´modern-age`MBA, knowledge creation equally means: profound investigation of the value creation process in your company; understanding the role you play in the market; defining your business and redefining its identity in order to survive; correctly managing the customer portfolio; and tapping into the innovative power of your organization in the quest for sustainability.

Finally, our MBA supports the huge need for Global Leaders in business: individual participants are trained to learn and experiment with personal growth, in a safe and trusted environment.
Collaboration and solidarity are fundamental beliefs nurtured in the program. The cohort principle (starting the MBA with one group and finishing the MBA two years later with the same group of peers) stimulates the group dynamics and ensures the learning process through the sharing of experiences, not merely through competition.

The MBA is a unique ground for discovery and self-confrontation. It enables you to understand your behavioral mechanisms, mental maps and collaboration preferences, allowing you to get to the core of your performance and leadership capabilities. Finally, it gives you the opportunity to expose yourself to Global Leadership challenges by delving into international business issues, tackling multicultural behavior and settings, managing globalization & global processes…

Why choose this programme ?
Target group
A part-time MBA typically targets professionals with experience in the business. There is no distinction between profit, non-for-profit, public sector and associations, nor is there any preference for entrepreneurs, the self- employed, smaller firms or multinational corporations.

Our candidates have a successfully earned first Master Degree and have at least 5 years of business practice.

Individuals with a serious interest in an MBA expect to gain fundamental business knowledge and a deep understanding of how organizations create value for their customers. They have a strong ambition to grow beyond their current roles and responsibilities in a specific specialty or domain, and are prepared for the next career move.

An MBA focuses on self-critical professionals with open minds and very positive learning attitudes. An MBA participant dares to explore and experiment, and values collaboration with class peers in their strife to achieve a mutual goal.

We appreciate a supportive attitude for the MBA from the participant´s employer. Support can be time based, financial sponsorship or access to company information but most importantly should include, a positive outlook for potential growth.

Surplus value

As an individual participant you will take away:

  • a life-changing experience
  • increased professional performance
  • corporate reflection
  • internal consultancy skills and change-agent capabilities
  • a solid network of friends and partners in the business

Your employer and MBA sponsor will benefit from:

  • an inspired associate
  • increased performance and matured professionalism
  • improved decision making
  • business value-chain thinking
  • deep understanding of market and customer
  • holistic approach towards people, process and technology

Under the supervision of an academic and personal coach, and with the involvement of Belgian alumni and captains of industry, the presentation and realization, in an organization, of a solid Master consultancy project, together with a challenging team of MBA peers, has a lasting impact on the outlook and soul of individual participants.

We also encourage projects in a non-for-profit setting to promote the ´economics for non-for-profit` feature of the Antwerp Management School MBA.

Antwerp Management School EMBA stands for developing an innovative approach that is concurrent with the business process and which is embedded in the complex economic reality. The academic rigour and prerequisites are interwoven with business relevancy and a positive outlook on the transformation capabilities of people and organizations.

We believe this to be one of the most attractive features of the Antwerp Management School Executive MBA.

Learning outcomes

Our EMBA is characterized by a continuing quest for a deeper and broader conceptual way of thinking, through an intensive group-dynamic process based on collaboration rather than competition, and by a critical approach towards managerial and leadership capabilities.

In addition to meeting the basic requirements to be eligible for the Association of MBA accreditation (AMBA), we strive to excel in our overall approach:

The equilibrium between Think Smart ~ Be Critical ~ Behave Wisely

  • extreme stretch of intellect
  • profound self criticism and re-routing
  • true understanding of business economics and an innovative outlook
  • equip for an unpredictable future
  • correct understanding of what could make you an outstanding Leader

To achieve these ambitious objectives, we fundamentally build on our strengths:

  • rigorous selection of high-level candidates
  • clear profile of our valuable faculty members, who  share their expertise, challenge your experiences, and bring a huge amount of business knowledge to the group
  • a strong belief in service delivery for and with our clients
  • and a longstanding tradition of encouraging collaboration over individual competition

Perspectifs

The EMBA is built around the three top development needs of global business as listed in the Harvard Business Review (Nov 2008):

  • the world is globalizing
  • technology undeniably drives changes in society and business

Whom will I learn from?

The conceptual frameworks and knowledge transfer are the responsibility of our Antwerp Management School EMBA faculty.

Faculty members are carefully selected according to our school’s EMBA ambitions.
They are recognized academic professors, with outstanding expertise in their business economics or management domain. Faculty members are experienced in executive teaching and understand their roles as facilitators of the learning process. Our faculty members will transfer their knowledge, debate with the class in plenum and in groups; and facilitate the exchange of expertise in the class. Faculty members will, at the end of their modules, decide on the methods for testing, which mainly consist of take-home exams, applied cases, a personal essay…

Our faculty members are assigned to a complete module to enhance the learning and allow in-depth work. They can invite guest business speakers for an evening testimonial closely related to the subject of the module.

Faculty members are owners of their module content and approach, the assignments, and the respective grading, which all conform to the EMBA academic policies clearly explained at the start of the program.

As well as the knowledge transfer and exchange offered by faculty members - the key players in the MBA - you will also learn much from the class interaction and lively discussion as well as the group assignments.

We ensure that classes include a broad range of participants with diverse backgrounds, experiences and functions and from a variety of companies.
