Leadership & Career Development Track
In the Leadership & Career Development Track (LCDT) of Antwerp Management School, you will be discovering who you are, what you can do, and what you truly want. We let you look outside your comfort zone, in the context of an international, highly-demanding setting, while working closely with fellow students and networking with businesses. The LCDT encourages you to think as an individual, as well as part of a group, about how your strengths and your potential for development can grow in this safe environment.
You will become more self-conscious and gain important professional soft skills to ensure that you, as a student, possess the tools and skill set to improve your personal leadership abilities. During your year at AMS, you will discover what kind of leader you can be while being coached to imagine, and realize, your ideal professional career.
Successful careers are not planned. They develop when people are prepared for opportunities because they know their strengths, their method of work, and their values. Knowing where one belongs can transform an ordinary person – hardworking and competent but otherwise mediocre – into an outstanding performer.
Employers are looking for talented, self-confident and mature young professional graduates. As a student, you will start the Leadership & Career Development Track with an intensive personal development plan. In interaction with peers, HR consultants, companies and personal relationships, you will continually work on this ambitious personal development plan throughout the year.
Feedback sessions with peers, mock interviews, individual/group coaching talks, networking activities, a residential seminar and a wide variety of interactive soft skills training, will all contribute to the growth of your interpersonal skills and leadership skills. You will learn how to work in a team setting, how to avoid or resolve conflicts, how to handle a high workload, how to negotiate the most effective ways, and and how to provide more impactful and confident presentations.
Consistent with our mission, in which social awareness plays an important role, you will also take the initiative to formulate a social project as part of a class group within the LCDT. This could mean setting up an awareness campaign or financing action for an existing project or organization, providing meaningful support for an existing organization, or setting up a brand new social initiative.
Career Management Services
Antwerp Management School equips its young graduates for launching successful careers. As a business school, it puts particular emphasis on corporate involvement in the student Career Management Service.
The Career Management Service for our full-time master students has two cornerstones: intensive contact with companies; and personal, tailored guidance for every student. The Career Center has close ties to many Belgian and international organizations, including top headhunters, and is run by counselors with experience in recruitment.
During your year at AMS, the following activities will be organized:
- Résumé and cover letter writing sessions
- Job application workshops (covering LinkedIn, assessment centers, work permits)
- Information sessions on various positions and opportunities
- Two AMS job fairs
- Company presentations and case workshops
- Alumni career speed dating evenings
- Individual career counseling
In addition, as an AMS student you will have access to the AMS job platform, where both Belgian and international companies post interesting job opportunities. We also offer you an overview of the companies for which our alumni are now working.
AMS alumni are hired by start-ups, small businesses and multinationals. Among others, they have started to work for international companies such as Accenture, DHL, AB InBev, Johnson & Johnson, Microsoft, PwC, Mars, Lidl, Salesforce, Caterpillar, BNP Paribas Fortis, Katoen Natie, Michael Page, Hilti and GlaxoSmithKline. AMS alumni are happy to mentor you in your search for the perfect starting position.
