1. Core curriculum

Basics of Supply Chain Management

This course provides an extensive introduction to the fundamentals of global supply chain management. Key concepts in managing the complete flow of material, information and finance in a supply chain are introduced. Fundamental relationships among the activities that occur in the supply chain of an organization from suppliers to customers are explained. This course is the introduction to the full program.

Managerial Decision Making

The primary objective is to emphasize the possibilities and the limitations of quantitative methods as supporting tools in managerial decision-making processes. Participants will experience this by examining and discussing a number of applications inspired by real-life situations. After completing the course, participants will be able to choose the appropriate technique for analyzing an operational problem, to build a model, and to evaluate the results, so that solutions can be formulated.

Production and Operations Management

Operations Management deals with the design and management of products, processes and services. The goal of Operations Management is to integrate functional departments in a firm (internal integration), while Supply Chain Management aims for integration between suppliers and customers (external integration). Both consider the acquisition, development, and utilization of resources that firms need in order to deliver the goods and services.

Distribution Structures and Outbound Logistics

This course has been designed to prepare the students for supply chain leadership functions. It will focus on the design and planning (architecture) of different types of supply chains with a clear focus on the “second” part of a supply chain: distribution, hence the part after inbound logistics. This module will be a mixture of interactive lectures, group works, guest lectures and company visits.

Supply Chain Finance

In this course, students will learn the most important Corporate Finance theory in order to understand how to value businesses. The course is meant to be very interactive and praxis- oriented, where students will learn how to value publicly traded shares, but also how Corporate Finance and business valuation is applied in M&A and LBO/MBO situations.

Modeling Global Supply Chains

This course provides a tool set for supply chain design in order to better understand and manage the supply chain. The course explores the main concepts and principles behind the design of supply chain networks. It presents a practical framework for this planning process, and considers alternative tools and techniques that can be used to evaluate different supply chain strategies. The course will involve the demonstration of different network design models, the development of an Excel based model, and the use of a number of models for hands on case studies.

Supply Chain Implementation Aspects

In this course, we will focus on the issues faced when establishing new supply chains, or changing existing ones. The main attention will not necessarily be on the technical aspects of the final supply chain design, but rather on the process of achieving successful implementation.

Integrated Business Processes with SAP ERP - MOOC

This course focuses on the topic of enterprise Resource Planning (ERP). For the practical implementation of the content the newest solution of the world market leader in the field of business software – SAP S/4HANA is used. SAP ERP is currently the most commonly used standard operating software worldwide. This is a self paced online module supplemented with some guest lectures from experts in the field and serves as the perfect introduction into the “SAP-universe”. Not only does it present the setup and functions of the SAP S/4HANA system theoretically, complex case studies also help the participants gain a profound practical understanding of the system. This prepares students for current and future challenges in dealing with this intricate subject area.

Fresh Connection Game

"The Fresh Connection" Game is an end-to-end value chain learning experience for managers, professionals and students. In a virtual, web-based environment, they are challenged to save the company of TFC from its downfall. Advanced simulation software calculates the consequences of the strategic and tactical decisions a team makes from one round to the other. Which team will get its value chain to perform best? Which team will produce the highest return on investment?

Strategic Procurement

This course aims to provide students with a broad and foremost managerial and practical guidance into the field of Procurement. This implies that several basic concepts, frameworks and insights will be explained, but as much discussed and applied in real-life cases.

2. Master Project (in-company project)

During the Master Project, you will be put to work as a junior consultant for eight weeks to solve a current business case in a company. This in-company assignment is the icing on the cake of this master, seeing as the hands-on advising role builds a bridge to the practice. Lauren Wilson, Thi Le en Matthieu Kulezak optimalized several processes for Innovet.

3. International trip

Each year, our students go on an international trip as a requirement of the program. Last year, our students went to Copenhagen, Denmark. They followed lectures at the Danish Technical University, visited different companies and industry organizations, and had a tour of the beautiful city. The visit concluded with a day-long hackathon where the students put their learnings to the test, hacking the future of city logistics.

4. Electives

Besides your regular curriculum, you will also have the opportunity to enhance your studies with Electives. All Master’s programs offer 1 full week of Elective courses; one week dedicated to an intensive relevant topic challenging the status quo and pushing you outside your comfort zone. The idea is to offer topics outside of the core curriculum that are based around the current geopolitical climate, relevant world news and future insights. They focus on matters that will benefit your studies and provide enhanced learning opportunities.

To give you an idea, previous Elective topics have included:

  • Digital Transformation
  • Designing Business Models for Future Growth
  • Geopolitical Challenges
  • Emerging Asian Markets
  • International Healthcare Management
  • Organizing for the Digital Future

5. Global Leadership Skills

Your personal development is a core element in the journey you will undertake during your year at Antwerp Management School.

At AMS, we look beyond the mere transfer of technical knowledge. As our mission statement explicitly mentions, we also want to stimulate your personal development. With the Global Leadership Skills track, we challenge and coach you to become more aware of who you are, how you cooperate with others, and what kind of career you want to pursue. We do this by building upon the three mission pillars of Antwerp Management School:

  • Self Awareness: leads to stronger cooperation with others.
  • Global Perspective: leads to a developed global mindset, allowing you to find better solutions to problems and complex issues.
  • Societal Consciousness: leads to sustainability in essential economic processes, a fundamental value in business.

Throughout this journey, we will focus on these three levels of learning by working with a mixture of exercises, self-analysis instruments, moments of reflection, individual follow-up, collective sessions and peer coaching. We will offer you relevant frameworks to support you in understanding your strengths and needs, and defining your areas for growth.

Global Leadership Skills development is more than a ‘nice to have’, it is a basic prerequisite for career success and recruiters will be assessing this when you apply for a job. Today’s employers are looking for an impressive set of soft skills when selecting young graduates. These include: self-awareness, the ability to work collaboratively with others, leadership skills, the capacity to adapt to new situations and to develop new skills, openness to and respect for different perspectives, multicultural awareness, and long-term and system thinking, to name just a few. This course aims to support you in developing these skills and in finding a match between who you are and what the world of employment needs; between your career ambitions and what employers are looking for.
