Core Curriculum

HRM Fundamentals

In this course, you get three for the price of one: you will learn to make the connection between the organization, the individuals moving within it and sustainability as a goal. With the central question "How can organizations coach their employees to contribute sustainably to strategic goals and their own development?" you will build the foundation to excel in the continuing curriculum.

Organizational Development Fundamentals

Our society is constantly changing, forcing organizations to evolve at its pace. Fortunately, behavioral sciences and practices lay a solid foundation for bringing about change within companies. Step into the shoes of a real OD manager, design your own intervention proposal and evaluate how feasible and sustainable your change trajectory would be. A useful preview of the real work, which will get a follow-up in the remainder of the curriculum....

International HRM

All our masters are viewed through an international lens, but those with a penchant for HRM will benefit all the more, because the human side of companies is precisely what makes that multicultural environment so special. In this course, you will face real-life cross-cultural challenges that you may also encounter on your career path and learn to navigate them with proven methods.

Business Challenges & Innovation Labs

Global trends such as digitalization and AI tools, changing organizational structures, the increasing importance of wellbeing, diversity & inclusion, an aging workforce and disruptions, such as pandemics or economic crises, are not leaving the business world untouched. What innovations can meet these business challenges? Join the search for the HR of the future and proudly present your findings to a professional jury.

Strategic HRM & Business Partnering

This course is all about strategic human resource management. How do you manage human resources consistently with the company's strategic goals and policies? How can HR improve long-term performance, based on HR data and analytics? What economic, social, psychological and legal factors influence the employment relationship? Here, theory and practice merge to fully utilize and care for the human capital in your organization.

Financial Management

As an HR manager, the world of finance may seem distant, but it is a department that strongly influences the minds of your employees and the capabilities of your organization. To speak fluently with finance professionals from your field, it's important to take a few steps into that world of numbers. Don't worry, with our detailed map you'll reach your final destination with confidence.

Organizational Development Practices

After exploring the Organizational Development Fundamentals, this course will complete the journey. What development problems are occurring in the organization? What OD interventions can help the organization improve its performance and effectiveness? How do you evaluate the results? With the answers to those questions, you will build your professional profile into an Organizational Development expert.

Labor Relation Management

Labor relations is one of the most important concepts in HR, but it involves a lot more than the communication between employers and employees. A labor relationship is also a power dynamic that plays out within the organization, industry and even society. We will work through employee differences, trust, commitment, partnership, strikes and conflict until you effortlessly take the debate one step further with academic concepts and innovations of your own.

Human Resource Management Practices

From applying for your organization to leaving it, your employees go through an entire journey within your organization. To make that adventure as positive as possible for everyone involved, this course provides you with in-depth insight into the employee lifecycle. With the common thread of recruitment & selection, career & development, and performance & reward, you will discover everything about attracting, developing and retaining talent.

Master Project

Ready for the real thing? In the Master project you can get a taste of the work field for 8 weeks. During this track, you can pin the title 'junior consultant' on your chest and use your new knowledge to tackle a real HR business case for the first time. Which start-up, SME or multinational will benefit from your insights and advice?

Note: This curriculum is subject to change.

HR Consulting Skills Bootcamp

With the guidance of consulting expert Deloitte and other experienced professionals, we will sink our teeth into a case for an entire week. Exploring all phases of a typical consulting project, from problem analysis to pitching your solution, will put you on solid ground when you take your first steps as a junior consultant. This bootcamp is one of the highlights of the curriculum that alumni look back on with pride.

Studytrip to Madrid

To further broaden your perspective, we will head to Madrid for a week. There you will see the international context in action, because your ideal HR policy depends heavily on the regulations and culture of the region where your company is located. The Universidad Carlos III Madrid (UC3M) welcomes you for inspiring lectures, debates and company visits that will guide you through the current challenges of the HR sector.

studytrip Madrid

During a five-day course at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, we delved deeper into some new key HRM issues from both general and HR management viewpoints. It was super inspiring to work on case studies, role plays, presentations, engaging debates and to exchange ideas and experiences.

Electives

In addition to the standard curriculum, you also have the opportunity to enrich your studies with electives, in the form of an intensive week of classes, entirely devoted to a topic that is relevant and interesting to you. We always provide an extensive choice between topics from the current geopolitical climate, relevant world news and future-proof insights.

To give you an idea, this list shows some of the electives from previous years.

  • Digital Transformation
  • Designing Business Models for Future Growth
  • Geopolitical Challenges
  • Emerging Asian Markets
  • International Healthcare Management
  • Organizing for the Digital Future

Global Leadership

Your personal development is just as important as the technical knowledge you will gain this year. Therefore, this module challenges you to get to know yourself better: What is your personality like? How do you work with others? What career goals do you want to pursue? This valuable awareness and the soft skills that go with it will strengthen you as a person to take the next professional step and put you in a good light with recruiters.

We are convinced that we need to teach sustainability with the aim that students learn how to make a difference for the world through the project that they do.
