LEGO® Serious Play®
LEGO® Serious Play®? That’s serious business!
What is LEGO® Serious Play®?
LEGO® Serious Play® is a facilitated meeting, communication and problem-solving method, where participants are led through a series of questions that go deeper and deeper. Each participant builds their own three-dimensional LEGO model in response to the facilitator’s questions using specially selected LEGO bricks. These 3D models serve as a basis for group discussion, knowledge sharing, problem solving and decision-making.

The assets of LEGO® Serious Play®
The most essential principle is always the focus on the individual that resides in every participant. By applying this principle in combination with the LEGO® Serious Play® process (asking questions, building, sharing, and reflecting), you obtain the following results:
- 100% participation by all group members
- All participants have time to think before they give their input
- You hear unique insights related to the subject of discussion
- All participants are actively involved in the discussion and decision making
- This communication method minimizes the risk of misconceptions and miscommunication
Seven application techniques ensure you can deepen and widen the results of the core process. For example: application technique 2 – building a model together – is a technique which helps the group to combine individual models into one shared model: team decision making.
Where can you apply this tool?
LEGO® Serious Play® can be used to determine a business strategy, to generate ideas, to find that one perfect candidate among many, and even to facilitate situations of conflict within the United Nations.
