After the first World War, we had the “Roaring Twenties” and the “Great Depression”. Many believe that we’re heading for a new “roaring” decade. Will this period of prosperity in the 21st century be sustainable and beneficial to all of society?

Please join us on Friday May 28th for a panel conversation with inspiring ESSCA Faculty, EPHD and EMBA alumni. We will discuss how business can save the world, how consumer behavior is shifting and how you can empower yourself.

12h20 – 12h40: Reimagining Capitalism: inspired by thought leaders such as Prof. dr. Rebecca Henderson (Harvard Business School) and statements from media such as the Financial Times we will discuss whether we really see business changing and aiming for a better world?

12h40 – 13h00: Consumer behavior: are consumers becoming more conscious, will business have to follow?

13h00 – 13h20: How to build your own career, what’s your purpose? After discussing the world and the consumers, let’s talk about our own careers, what’s our aim in life?

Nermain Al Issa

  • EPhD Alumnus - Nermain obtained her PhD in consumer behavior, cultural diversity, and luxury consumption, from Antwerp Management School and the University of Antwerp in 2021.
  • Nermain has been a senior instructor of marketing at the American University of the Middle East – Kuwait since 2019.
  • Nermain is an expert in marketing and professional selling in the Kuwait market. In her research she focused on the luxury market and how consumer’s behavior is developing.

  • EMBA alumnus (Antwerp intake) - Karla obtained an Executive MBA from AMS in 2012.
  • She is an experienced Head Of Public Affairs and External Affairs with a demonstrated history of working in the mining & metals industry. Skilled in Public Affairs, External Affairs, Corporate Social Responsibility, Government, International Relations, and Management.

  • EMBA Alumnus - Tatiana obtained an Executive MBA from AMS in 2015.
  • Tatiana is an experienced professional in anti-corruption compliance, enterprise risk management, internal controls and internal /external audit, financial management, optimization of business processes in government-owned companies, NGOs and international business.
  • She has more than 15 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and medical devices industry.

Ilse Daelman

  • EPhD alumnus - Ilse obtained her PhD degree from Antwerp Management School and the University of Antwerp in 2021.
  • Her research focused on understanding entrepreneurial motives, identifying different types of entrepreneurs and challenging the deeply rooted bias on what constitutes an ambitious entrepreneur. It makes a plea for a better appraisal of the diversity and the potential that different entrepreneurial types represent.

Antonella Forganni

  • PhD alumnus - Antonella obtained her PhD degree in International Economic Law at University Bocconi Milan in 2010
  • She is a lawyer and works as Associate Professor in Law at ESSCA
  • Antonalle graduated from the Università degli Studi di Brescia (2003), and has obtained the certificate of aptitude for the legal profession (Italian Bar Association, 2007) and the Doctorate in International Economic Law from the Bocconi University in Milan (2010).
  • Her professional experience as a legal consultant for business associations, combined with her academic experience, has made her aware of the practical aspects of business life.
  • She joined ESSCA EU-Asia Institute as an associate researcher and then in 2015 the ESSCA School of Management as an assistant professor and researcher.
