What are the entry requirements? Am I eligible?

Students with a degree from a Flemish institution:

To be eligible for one of our full-time master’s programs, you need a master's degree from a recognized institution.

All other degrees:

To be eligible for one of our full-time master’s programs, you need at least a 3 or 4-year bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution.

* For some degrees there may be additional requirements

Flemish Bachelor student?

Unfortunately, due to government regulations, all students studying in the Flemish region are required to already have a master’s degree. This is because our master’s programs are accredited as Advanced Master’s programs by the Flemish government.

How to prepare best for application? How can I improve my chances of being admitted?

In regards to working your way to the master’s program, we look for well-rounded candidates – students that not only have achieved success in their academics.

  • Have you been involved in clubs or organizations?
  • Do you have work experience?
  • Have you done any volunteering?
  • Did you win any awards or prizes?

When you apply for the program, make sure you show how you have been an asset to your community and / or your university.

Is a GMAT / GRE test required?

GMAT / GRE is not required since we have our own online general ability test. However, if you do have GMAT / GRE result, you can get a waiver for our own admissions test if you meet the following criteria:

  • GMAT above 550
  • GRE Verbal Reasoning score: 150
    GRE Quantitative Reasoning score: 158

Is work experience required?

No, since our full-time master’s programs are primarily aimed at recent graduates, work experience is not required.

Is an IELTS / TOEFL test required?

If you haven’t completed your higher education in English, you will need to submit an English test result equivalent to TOEFL iBT (total score 79-93) or IELTS (overall band score 6.5).

Students who completed their higher education in English or native English speakers can apply without an IELTS / TOEFL test.

You will be required to upload some proof of English education (for example a statement from the school, a transcript that indicated the language of instruction, etc.).

Are any other language tests accepted?

Yes, we also accept CAE, TOEIC, etc., as well as the Duolingo Language Test which can be done online and is a lot cheaper than many other English language tests.

Am I eligible?

For us to determine your eligibility, you can send the admission team a copy of your resume (CV). Note that the final decision is still made by the admissions committee, which considers your grades, online assessment results, personal interview, and most importantly your motivation.

Too much work experience?

Please note that our full-time master’s programs focus on recent graduates with little or no work the added value would not be maximized for people with too much work experience. Quite some courses would overlap with what you have already learned from experience. We recommend looking into executive programs if you are a professional with more than 5 years of work experience, as their programs are developed for professionals with experience. This would be a lot more interesting for you.

How to apply?

The application process goes as follows:

1. Fill in the different tabs of the application portal. You will have to provide some personal information, we will assess your motivation and you will have to answer some additional questions. You will also be asked to upload the following documents:

  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Diploma & academic transcripts of your bachelor/master program
  • A copy (or scan) of your passport or identity information
  • Recent picture

2. After successful completion of your application dossier, you are invited for an online general ability assessment.

3. Then, we will invite you for an interview through Skype to obtain insight into your motivation, perseverance, personality, leadership skills, as well as your proficiency in English.

4. After completing the application procedure, you can expect an answer from us within 1-2 weeks.

Can I already apply even though I am still finalizing my current studies?

You can already apply even though you are still finalizing your current studies.

Please upload your most recent transcripts. Instead of your degree, you can upload proof of enrolment or your last degree.

Just keep in mind that we need to have seen your previous degree before you can graduate at AMS. Otherwise, we are not allowed to issue your AMS diploma.

What can I expect from the admissions test?

Our admissions test takes 37 minutes to complete and is designed to measure three types of ability: numerical, deductive, and inductive. There are 30 questions in the test, with 10 questions for each of the three abilities measured.

  • Numerical Ability: The Numerical Ability questions are designed to measure the ability to solve problems involving numerical data by using the proper mathematical methods and the ability to interpret data presented in charts, graphs, and tables. Candidates will be asked to make correct decisions or inferences from numerical or statistical data. This ability is commonly required to support work and decision-making in many different types of jobs at many levels.
  • Deductive Reasoning: These questions are designed to assess the candidate’s ability to draw logical conclusions based on information provided, identify strengths and weaknesses of arguments, and complete scenarios using incomplete information. It provides an indication of how an individual will perform when asked to develop solutions when presented with information and draw sound conclusions from data.
  • Inductive Reasoning: Ten questions are completely non-verbal and feature only shapes and figures. These questions are designed to measure the ability to detect regularities, patterns, and generalizations and infer rules that can be applied to different situations. Individuals high in this ability tend to excel in global and strategic thinking and are good at finding errors in work processes.

When is the application deadline? (EU citizens)

The official deadline to apply for EU citizens is August 15, 2021. However, please note that our applications are on a rolling basis. Since we only accept 40 students in every master’s program, we encourage you to apply as soon as possible.

Are applications for ’21 – ’22 still open? (Non-EU citizens)

Applications for ’21 – ’22 have closed for non-EU citizens / residents.

Are applications for ’22 – ’23 already open?

Applications for ’22 – ’23 will open in October ‘21.

Can I get an application fee waiver?

No. We understand that application fees can add up, especially if you are applying to several schools, which is why we keep our fees low in comparison to other business schools. The application fee is used to cover some of our processing costs. The contribution of each candidate is essential. Moreover, it would also be unfair towards the other applicants who all paid the application fee if we would waive this fee for one candidate.

What is the tuition fee?

The fees for the academic year ’22 – ’23 will be announced in September.

How does the payment process work?

A deposit of 3000 EUR must be paid within 15 days after acceptance for the program and the balance before the start of the program. The deposit is non-refundable except in cases of force majeure. The remaining part of your tuition fees needs to be paid before you start the program (i.e. before the end of September).

I have transferred my deposit / living expenses / second installment

We will send you a confirmation letter once the money has reached our account. Please note that an international transfer can take up to 5 business days.

Can I get a payment plan / Can I pay in installments?

Upon request and with the consent of AMS, a schedule of deferred payments can (on an exceptional basis) be agreed upon between the participant and AMS. The following modalities will in this case apply:

  • The balance will be spread over a period of 9 months, with the first payment due before the 30th of September of the ongoing year and the last payment before the 31st of May of the next year.
  • For the deferred payment, an extra (administrative and financing) fee of 4.0% will be charged (on the balance).

Can I get a scholarship?

We don’t offer scholarships for the academic year ’21 – ‘22. However, we do have an agreement with Prodigy Finance, an international student loan provider. For more information, click here.

In September we will announce the new scholarship offer for the academic year ’22 – ’23.

Student loans (Belgian nationals / residents)

Need some financial support to fund your studies? Some banks, like KBC for example, offer you the opportunity to fund your studies at AMS with a personal loan. You can just apply for this type of loan online. (Please note that if you don’t have an income of your own, your parents will have to apply for the loan for you.)

By running a personal loan simulation, you can calculate exactly how much you will have to pay and for how long. By changing the amount and duration, you yourself decide what your monthly repayments will look like.

  1. Go online to the online loan calculator.
  2. Fill in the amount you want to borrow, and the handy application will immediately work out how much your personal loan will cost you.
  3. Just change the amount or repayment period, and the application will immediately show you the new repayment schedule.

Will the school help me with finding accommodation?

You are responsible for finding your own accommodation, however, we have an accommodation page on our website and a student handbook with lots of useful tips to help you in your search.

What are the costs of living?

Although the cost of living largely depends on the student’s lifestyle, these costs range from 6,000 to 10,000 euros for the duration of the program. An average monthly budget consists of:

  • Housing 390 - 545 euro (For more information, click on this link.)
  • Electricity, gas, water, internet 30 – 60 euro
  • Food 280 euro
  • Miscellaneous (trips, clothing, laundry…) 180 euro
  • Handbooks (for the whole academic year) max. 600 euro

How does the student visa process work?

All non-EU students must apply for a Belgian student visa.

If you are admitted, you are required to pay a deposit of 3000 euro to secure your spot in the program. Once we have received your deposit, we will issue a letter that you can use for your visa application.

Below you can find more information about the visa application process. Make sure to start this process as soon as possible, as it could take several weeks - even months - to obtain your visa.

  • Step 1: Check the website of the Belgian Embassy as soon as you are admitted and start gathering all the necessary documents.
  • Step 2: Before handing in your application, pay the fee that is required by the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Please note that the fee that applies to you is the one for “students who will be enrolled in an educational establishment organized, accredited or subsidized by the Government. The application fee is non-refundable.

If your visa would be denied, we will refund your deposit of 3000 euro (minus an administrative cost of 100 euro).

Can I bring family members while studying in Belgium?

It is possible to bring family members (spouse/registered partner and children under 18) to Belgium with you as a student, but it can take a few months for them to get the proper visas if they are not EU/EEA nationals.

Living expenses (optional but advised)

The main reason why a visa is refused is because of insufficient proof of financial means. To help fulfill this requirement, we provide you with the option of paying the required living expenses of €8160 into a separate account of Antwerp Management School.

Once we have received the sum of €8160, we will send you a confirmation letter that should be added to your visa application file. This letter ensures the Belgian Embassy that you can cover the cost of living in Belgium for 12 months, which will facilitate the visa application process - and could even make a difference in receiving your visa in time!

Once you have arrived in Antwerp, you will receive €680 monthly into your private account during your studies in Antwerp (12 months).

Please note that all international transactions, currency conversions, or other payment costs are at the expense of the sender. Bank charges are the registrant’s liability and should not be deducted from the fee.

Can I work while studying? (International students)

You can work while you are studying in Belgium. The rules are basically the same as for Belgian students, but there are a few more things to investigate.

If you have acquired a visa for Belgium to study here, you can work if studying is your main occupation. You will need to have a residence permit, which also serves as your work permit, and you must follow a complete study in Belgium. There is also a limit on your working hours during the school year, which is maximum of 20 hours a week (except during the school holidays).

Students of the European Economic Area (EEA) and Sweden can work without any hassle and do not have a limit.

Please note that classes at AMS will be scheduled from Monday to Friday (between 9 am – 5 pm) and we expect you to attend classes. Therefore, it is not recommended to commit to a part-time job. Some casual work, however, is an option.

In regards to finding a job, here are some tips:


Via Student@Work you can find a list of companies that are regularly looking for student workers. Next to that many bars and restaurants in Antwerp are also looking for students, especially during the summer months. Some of our students also work for delivery services like Deliveroo and Uber Eats, because it is casual work (you can choose when you work) which makes it easier to combine with your studies.

Can I stay in Belgium after my studies?

The Belgian government has recently approved the post-study work visa for non-EU students (see article).

Will the school help me in my job search? What are your career services?

During your year at AMS, the following activities will be organized:

  • Resume and cover letter writing sessions
  • Job application workshops (covering LinkedIn, assessment centers, work permits)
  • Information sessions on various positions and opportunities
  • Two AMS job fairs
  • Company presentations and case workshops
  • Alumni career speed dating evenings
  • Individual career counseling

In addition, as an AMS student, you will have access to the AMS job platform. In this online Career Center, both Belgian and international companies post exclusive AMS job opportunities and have access to your CV.

What is the starting salary in Belgium?

On average for alumni employed in Belgium:

  • Gross salary € 34.800 per year (or € 29.000 per year if a company car/fuel card is included)
  • Health insurance
  • Group insurance
  • Optional: additional net allowance of e.g. €100/month

Please note this is just an example, not a legal minimum or maximum amount.

What jobs do alumni find after graduation?

Corona – Will classes be online or on campus?

All AMS activities can take place in code green. This means that we are allowed to welcome all course groups on campus at full capacity. As an extra safety measure, our activities will take place in large classrooms so that we can still maintain physical distance. For more information, please click here.

How long does the program take?

Our full-time master’s programs take ten months to complete starting at the end of September. Graduation will be held in mid-July.

When will I get my class schedule?

The schedule will be available at the end of August. We expect you to consider Monday to Friday your “AMS time” and to be flexible as the schedule will even change during the first semester (for example the addition of guest lectures and company visits). The official holidays can be found in the international student handbook (see link) and AMS will also be closed on November 1 & 2.
