Session 1: From a linear to a circular economy – putting theory into practice

The shift from linear to circular models not only boosts operational efficiency but also drives industries towards a net positive future. Given the volatility of raw material prices, the appeal of non-virgin resource streams is increasing. The circular economy aims to reduce resource consumption and waste by designing products for reuse and recycling. In this initial session, we will discuss global trends in circularity, delve into best practices and case studies, and introduce tools to 'measure' the circularity of your business or process.

  • From linear to circular
  • Global trends
  • Circular strategies
  • Best practices and case studies
  • Tools to measure circularity, life cycle analysis

Session 2: The story of narrative and numbers – business models

In the second session, we will show how the concepts previously discussed are implemented in the real world. You will have the opportunity to employ narratives and numbers not only to a case study but also directly to your own business. You will engage in various roles and reflect on your decisions, gaining a comprehensive understanding of both the strategic and operational implications of the circular economy. This session will particularly focus on assessing the feasibility and viability of these applications.

  • The concepts of feasibility and viability
  • Business models and business cases

Session 3: The story of narrative and numbers: contextualization and transformation

In the third session, we will delve deeper into the numbers and develop innovative business models to effectively implement circular strategies. We will examine the context in which these strategies operate, including geographic considerations, industry-specific factors, and alignment with your company’s purpose. Integrating these elements, we will formulate a plan for transforming your business model. This plan will provide practical insights for project and change management as well as risk assessment.

  • Contextualization: country, industry, company purpose
  • Business model transformation: projects and change management, assumptions and risks

Session 4: Closing the loop

In the final session, we will evaluate the circularity of our current economy and examine ongoing policy efforts to advance these initiatives. Additionally, we will explore how companies are interconnected within a circular economy through their material and energy flows.

  • Circular economy monitoring
  • Circular economy polies
  • Circularity of material and energy flows from a micro to a macro level
