We invite you to join us for the 11th edition of Antwerp Management School’s Digital Transformation Lab powered by XPLUS, taking place on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 (16:00 - 19:00).
During this Digital Transformation Lab, Reinhart Maertens will take you through the impending merger Of Ziekenhuis aan de Stroom (‘ZAS’) in Antwerp from a digitalization perspective. The keynote takes a closer look at the complexity of a hospital organization as well as the sector as a whole and how effective use of technology and information plays a fundamental role for long-term success. You will get a unique insight in the specific challenges of the merger itself, from dealing with established systems, services and partnerships to implementing an IT-driven and future-proof structure in the public healthcare services landscape. From his extensive experience, Reinhart Maertens will outline what he believes have been the key ‘lessons learned’ within ZAS and inspire others to have impact in their organisation.
Reinhart Maertens graduated in 2005 with a master's degree in commercial sciences with a specialization in information management. He started his professional career at KPMG Advisory as an IT consultant and gained initial experience in sectors such as automobile, insurance and banking in Belgium and abroad. Later he started his career as an ICT consultant in healthcare with a focus on the digitalization of hospitals. After a first assignment in Belgium, Reinhart supervised many complex digital transformations and implementations abroad as project manager. By working in countries such as the Netherlands, UK, Sweden and Norway, he became acquainted with different hospital organizations.
At the end of 2014, he got the opportunity to start working as CIO at the University Hospital Antwerp. During this period, he focused mainly on the purchase and implementation of a new high-end electronic patient record and paved the way for the replacement of the in-house developed ERP system. In early 2023, Reinhart started working as ICT manager at Hospital aan de Stroom (ZAS) with the objective of developing a ZAS ICT organization and thereby supporting the merger into ZAS.
