Organizing the government as a lean start-up in crisis
With the COVID-pandemic the world is facing an unprecedented health crisis. Governments, companies and global supply chains struggled to cope with the challenges and underwent a huge stress test. From a healthcare perspective, all institutions were faced with a shortage or supply difficulties for personal protective equipment, health infrastructure and testing capacity.
During the crisis Minister Philippe De Backer and his former director Dries Holvoet were asked to tackle the shortage of PPE and the need for more testing for the federal government when Belgium entered its first lockdown. They transformed the existing bureaucratic organisation across different levels of government into a start up looking for innovative solutions. During this webinar, they will elaborate on the challenges they faced and leadership and management principles they used.
