The Brussels-based company Shayp has developed an AI-driven solution that detects water leaks in real-time. In 2017, they initiated a pilot project involving 86 French schools in the Grand Est region. Within a few months, they assisted the agricultural school of Saint-Laurent in saving 6 million liters of water and 20,000 euros. Shayp has since expanded its presence in both residential and, notably, non-residential settings. They collaborate with facility management partners to optimize the maintenance of water pipelines.

The French start-up Lita.co has a mission to democratize impact investing. Through a web platform, they enable citizens to invest their savings in projects with local and positive impact. Additionally, Lita.co collaborates with partners such as Credal, For Wings, and Impact Capital to drive the financial sector towards a sustainable future.

With the increase of technological, business and societal disruptions, innovation climbs even higher on corporate to-do lists. With it comes the increasing importance of corporate venturing, which provides as many opportunities as it does challenges. This article is the first in a series of three, and explores the challenges in measuring the return on innovation. Towards the end of the year, all the research will be compiled into a larger report.
