Some more info on ‘De Boogkeers’
HUB architects are the designers with whom we share a strong vision and completed the building process in the past two years.
The building is partially new (located at Vleminckveld 51 and Boogkeers 1-5). The right part, the building on Lange-Gasthuisstraat 32-34 has been renovated and restored to its historic state. The left part is newly built and is an airy unit that carries on the rhythm of the adjoining restored building. The open house philosophy, so typical for AMS, fully takes shape in this new building.
The new Boogkeers is a sustainable, socially responsible building with respect for its historic value.
The city poem ‘a minimum’
Ramsey Nasr’s city poem ‘a minimum’, that was put on the façade of the building on Mechelseplein in 2005 (when the building still housed the Antwerp OCMW), had been gone for about a year. Due to the renovation works, it had to be temporarily removed. This caused a lot of commotion with the fans of the poem. After consultation between AMS, poet Ramsey Nasr and the alderwoman for culture of the City of Antwerp, Caroline Bastiaens, a new design tailored to the renovated façade was approved.
Since Wednesday May 9, 2018 the city poem ‘a minimum’ adorns the Boogkeers façade on Mechelseplein in all its glory once again.
