At the Centre for Maritime and Air Transport (C-MAT), hosted at Antwerp Management School, she co-coordinates Fundamentals of Maritime Shipping and coordinates Maritime Economics and Businesses and Maritime Supply Chain & Hinterland. She also teaches within Dutch-language programmes at the Faculty of Business and Economics, with a focus on operational aspects of maritime transport, maritime economics, logistics and transport.
Her research covers maritime economics, with particular emphasis on cooperation and competition in shipping. She obtained her PhD in Applied Economics jointly from Ghent University and the University of Antwerp in 2010. Her dissertation on competitive conditions, concentration and market structure in container liner shipping received the General Manager Fernand Suykens Prize for Port Studies from the Royal Academy for Overseas Sciences. In 2024, she was awarded the honorary degree of Commander in the Order of the Crown.
