Our Master in Strategic HRM program is highly ranked in the Eduniversal Ranking of 2022: N° 7 in Human Resource Management in Western Europe. This program started in 1994-1995 as the Master in Personeelswetenschappen (Master in Personnel Sciences) and is the 2nd oldest program at AMS (after the Master in Management). In 2015 we celebrated our 20th anniversary, and we plan to celebrate our 30th in 2025 again.
This program has more than 600 alumni, working in Belgium and abroad.
As an excellent management school offering this Master in Strategic HRM, we want to remain at the forefront of business innovation and transformation. Thanks to our extensive "Enabling Human Impact" research team, we stay on top of business science, (strategic HR) management and organization. We do this by both creating new knowledge through research and bringing about effective changes together with partners.
The Competence Centre 'Next Generation Work' (NGW) was established in 2012 to generate relevant and evidence-based knowledge and insights to meet the challenges of the future workforce within the future labor market. Through state-of-the-art academic and practice-oriented scientific research, the NGW researchers develop a unique body of knowledge on current topics like sustainable careers, sustainable HRM, diversity and inclusion, employee voice & silence, lifelong learning & employability, happy, healthy & productive workforce, social innovation etc.
The Next Generation Work team is multidisciplinary: a collaboration of professors, post-doctoral researchers and junior researchers with academic backgrounds in sociology, labor psychology, socio-economic sciences, communication sciences, research methodology and statistics. Integrating these various domains of expertise can provide organizations with multi-faceted insights to fuel their people and strategic HR strategy. Through years of working with partners such as Johnson & Johnson and SDWorx, they know how to translate scientific insights into hands-on interventions that make a difference in organizations.
The team is also strongly committed to research valorization. Blogs are regularly disseminated, opinion articles are often written, and webinars and seminars are organized. Recently we celebrated 10 Years of Sustainable Careers. We brought our key insights and had discussions with international thought leaders on how we can strengthen the sustainable connection between talent and work in a dynamic labor market in the coming years. In addition to practitioner publications, the team's research is also published in national and international peer-reviewed journals.
The program welcomes students from all over the world, with different backgrounds. Because of the cultural diversity of our students, you will learn how to cope with the complexities of international business communications. You’ll get to know people from different nationalities with different personalities. This will strengthen your multicultural competences.
This program has a specific group dynamic. The values that reside in the broader HR community (respect, ownership, team spirit, flexibility, creativity, consideration…) are stimulated from the very beginning.
4. Boost your international career
Throughout the academic year, several activities will be organized at AMS by the Career Management Services which can inspire and help you in making a good career decision, including job interview trainings, career fairs, networking events, case evenings. Individual and peer coaching is offered to help you explore your talents, interests and needs, relate these to what companies offer in terms of jobs and career opportunities, and prepare yourself for job interviews and assessments.
You will also visit numerous companies in Belgium. In the past, we have collaborated successfully with companies such as Accenture, BMW, Crossbridge, Deloitte, Desco, Dixon & Company, Hays, Hudson, Ikea, LeasePlan, Page, PwC, Top Employers Institute, UZA, …
