The international finance and investment environment is undergoing rapid and fundamental change. One particular sector in which the changes are perceived to be potentially drastic is the financial services industry. This industry is rapidly shaking off its national as well as regional orientation, developing pan-European and even global strategies. The global integration of financial markets and the introduction of the Euro, thus far, have caused, within the sphere of finance, a number of fundamental changes in the working of organisations and companies. There is an increasing demand for highly specialised and better-qualified management capable of understanding the rules and complexities that govern the financial sector.
Against this background, Antwerp Management School, Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) and Febelfin Academy have established the Master in Banking, providing an interactive field of study by using both academics and industry practitioners. This unique programme specifically focuses on banking and financial services rather than general finance.

The creation of this unique programme shows a significant and growing need for banks and other financial institutions, fund managers, securities firms and corporate financial advisors to have a clear understanding of the theory and practice of banking and finance in an ever-increasing integration of the global financial markets.
Emphasis is given to the latest banking techniques, the effects of international market activity on the implementation of strategies by banks and other financial intermediaries, and the practical application of the financial techniques in a real world setting.
The programme operates under the guidance of a Steering Committee under the joined direction of Antwerp Management School, VUB and Febelfin Academy.
Courses are offered primarily on an evening schedule. Typically, evening classes meet two times a week, from 6pm to 9pm. The two computer-based simulation courses are each taught over three to four consecutive days. The simulation programmes are held during the day.
